My wife and I stumbled upon CrossFit in 2017 as we were browsing through Netflix trying to find some inspiration for our newly found hobby of working out. We watched the Fittest on Earth documentary, and were amazed by the athleticism and strong bodies of the featured athletes. A month or so later, a friend invited me to do the Memorial Day workout, “Murph.” Though it took me over an hour (and a second viewing of my breakfast) to complete, I was convinced that CrossFit had some things to teach me about both physical, and mental conditioning. I started learning how to program metcons, and changed my focus from simple bodybuilding to actual fitness. I delved into the CrossFit methodology both inside and outside of the gym, 1 workout per day turned into 2 or 3, and I studied fitness, and the sport of fitness as I used myself and my wife as “guinea pigs.” I began coaching at another boutique fitness gym in the summer of 2018. That lasted for about 6 months until I knew I had to get involved in CrossFit at an affiliate. I started working out at CrossFit Etowah in January 2019, and Jeff Rice and the team encouraged me to pursue obtaining my level 1 CrossFit Certificate, which I was able to do in April of the same year. One of the things I love most about CrossFit is how it helps people change their lives as they become more functional. But beyond that, I love the impact that CrossFit will have on the future generations. Families tend to get fit together, and as Mom’s and Dad’s find CrossFit, they raise their kids to be healthy for a lifetime, and create a ripple effect in the future. #fitfam is real! My wife and I look forward to welcoming our first child into the world this May(2019), and CrossFit has helped give us the tools to raise her to be healthy forever. I can’t wait to help coach YOU to be the same.
